Special Report: Development and Archaeology Post Ppg16
- Synopsis
- For chartered surveyors the discovery of archaeological remains on site can often have a huge impact on the development process in terms of both cost and time. PPG16 details the way in which the archaeological significance of a site must be investigated prior to development and explains the responsibilities and liabilities of developers, in particular the vexed question of who pays for what. Looks at PPG16 and the processes that need to be folllowed, with Harvey Dowdy of the University of Northumbria in York, John Otley of York City Council and Ian McAndrew of DTZ Debenham Thorpe.
