Performance Measurement and Evaluation Vc1

Synopsis
A course video in two parts: 1) Czech Mates? (producer Jan Bright, 24 min) - features a manufacturer of chocolates and biscuits based in Prague. The key theme is the development of appropriate approaches to performance measurement for a market economy. With the changes in Eastern Europe has come the growth of the so-called free market. Cokoladovny was the largest manufacturer on old Czechoslovakia, producing a wide range of chocolates and biscuits. The programme looks at how it acquired three Western partners: Nestlé (the Swiss chocolate manufacturer), BSN (the French biscuit manufacturer) and the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development. Assessing the value and real performance of the company in unfamiliar (to the West) conditions forms part of the story, as does the company’s own moves towards meeting the requirements of its new partners; 2) Working It Out - looks at performance evaluation in local government.

Notes
NB. As of May 2016 Open University Worldwide are no longer distributing DVDs. They have posted this message on their website: ‘Unfortunately Open University Worldwide Limited has decided that product sales are no longer viable given the reduced funding to Higher Education institutions and diminishing demand for the products we have traditionally stocked. At present the Open University Students Association (OUSA) will continue to sell the "Good Study Guide", and we are in discussion with other possible distributors to continue to make The Open University’s products available for purchase. As soon as we have any information on other channels of distribution we will update this notice’. Some products are still available via second hand dealers on Amazon.co.uk
