Synopsis
By following the design and manufacture of a steel-frame building, examines and explains the BSI ‘Specification for the Structural Use of Steelwork in Buildings’, dealing in particular with the concepts of limit state technology, probabilistic methods and the categorisation of geometrical properties. Also explores the important practical application of these concepts to steelwork design with the use of computers.
