Money Madness
- Synopsis
- In today’s markets, billions of dollars go around the world in a frenzy of gambling and speculation. Some of the funds dealing with the buying and selling of risk are so complicated and volatile that rocket scientists have been brought in to help operate them. Many banks and hedge funds make their fortunes gambling in the derivatives (futures) markets but many lose out. This programme reports from Wall Street on how the explosion of speculation is threatening the collapse of the world’s markets with governments, investors and mortgage payers left as helpless bystanders.
