- Tom Bower, Professor of Child Psychology at the University of Edinburgh, has been engaged in research on the intellectual abilities of very young children for over 20 years. He now believes that babies can respond to qualities of the world that adults cannot even perceive. Results of his research indicate that early training in special perceptual skills can be important for handicapped and severely deprived children.
