Part 1 of 2, featuring a selection of post-war novels for a book campaign chosen by Elizabeth Jane Howard, Richard Hoggart and Sir Peter Parker; includes an interview with Elizabeth Jane Howard. The programme also discusses a new London box office offering tickets for Broadway shows, and features an interview with theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh. Writer and actor Jack Klaff talks about his one-man shows. The first half of the programme ends with a song by American actress Ethel Merman, who died this week.
