Labour shadow Trade Secretary Robin Cook on the Trade and Industry Select Committee report into the government’s coal mine closure programme, which recommends some of the threatened 31 pits be saved. Cook calls on the Secretary of the Board of Trade Michael Heseltine to resign for having stated the closure of all the pits was unavoidable and for putting jobs at risk.
