Femmes Fatales

Synopsis

Radio programme featuring a selection of poetry and music on the subject of the femme fatale, an idea exemplified (among others) in the figure of Shakespeare’s Cleopatra. The programme starts with Cleopatra’s description by Enobarbus (read by Jeremy Northam) from Shakespeare’s Antony and Cleopatra. Music from Samuel Barber’s 1965 opera of the same name is used to underscore the speech.
