In Othello

Synopsis
Feature film. An English multicultural theatre company in contemporary New Delhi is staging a Kathakali production of Othello. The director (Abel) unconventionally casts an inexperienced small town actor (Hussain) as Othello. Hussain soon falls in love with the leading lady playing Desdemona (Chadha), an actress also beloved by Dilip who plays Cassio. The two men become bitter rivals, and the actor who plays Iago (John) secretly orchestrates their drive to destroy each other, so jeopardising the play. A further layering to the film is added as the actor’s theatrical personae begin to influence their actions in life beyond the theatre.
