Synopsis
Second concert in a week’s series of BBC Radio 3 ‘Afternoon Performances’ dedicated to showcasing music written for and inspired by the works of Shakespeare and other literary authors.
The Shakespeare-related items in this episode’s playlist include: the overture to Berlioz’s comic opera Beatrice et Benedict, conducted by Illan Volkov; Strauss’s tone poem Macbeth (conductor: Martyn Brabbins); The Comedy of Errors: Overture for Orchestra (conductor: Martyn Brabbins) by Cecil Coles.
The programme is presented by Louise Fryer. The selection of concerts is played by the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra.
