Synopsis
Television documentary on the Renaissance Theatre Company formed by Kenneth Branagh and David Parfitt, concentrating on preparation and rehearsals for four productions. Details the progress of Judi Dench, Derek Jacobi and Geraldine McEwan as the directors of Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet and As You Like It respectively, plus Branagh’s own direction of Twelfth Night, subsequently televised. The Renaissance Theatre Company toured from March 1988 with the three productions (As You Like It, Hamlet and Much Ado About Nothing), ending at London’s Phoenix theatre August-October 1988. Twelfth Night was produced at the Riverside Studios, Hammersmith, and then televised.
