Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: French Strike Fiasco. SHOTLIST: Scenes in Paris street. Commentary: Strikes in France have often proved to be hectic affairs with procession of defiance, interspersed with carnival and sport. This was the case in the heyday of the "stay-in" strike with which M Blum’s Government was embarrassed in its early days. Many people expected a repetition of these scenes during the 24 hour strike called for Wednesday by the CGT (The French TUC) but energetic counter measures by M Daladier’s Government forestalled the strikes, and Paris on Wednesday was looking its normal self.
