- COI synopsis: A lamp that you can read by up to 20 kilometres away. This is a quartz lamp discharging an electric arc through mercury and iodine vapour creating 22 million candle power - with the same spectrum as sunlight. Naval rescue teams are including these lamps in their equipment as a reliable way of penetrating the darkness of light.
