- NoS synopsis: Lynemouth Colliery, Northumberland, burned out and flooded just two years ago, has gone back in to production. The biggest undersea mine in Europe, it will soon produce two million tons of coal a year. Much of it will generate electricity for Alcan’s giant aluminium smelter. Includes miners fixing roof supports by hand and mechanical means.
