Summary
BFI synopsis: A Board typist who is a physiotherapist.
NCB Commentary - Edinburgh Castle is a symbol of Scotland, and the Scottish musical tradition is still alive in the bagpipes of Pipe Major George Stoddard.
Folk dancing is another Scottish tradition and 20 year old Joyce Trainer spends her spare time with a group entertaining young and old around the Edinburgh area - none older perhaps than Miss Annie Ferguson, getting set of her 100th birthday.
Charity shows take up much of Joyce’s spare time. Her working days are spent at the Coal Board’s Scottish Headquarters.
As she prepares for yet another engagement, Joyce can look back on quite a few years of dancing for charity - she started off when she was only 2 1/2.
Another member of the group is Jock Tait, who works at Easthouses Colliery. He’s on accordion, and joins Joyce at a visit to the children in Princess Margaret Rose Hospital.
Working and playing together for the entertainment of others, the group typifies yet another Scottish tradition - the charity of which Robert Burns so often wrote.
