- Summary
- BFI synopsis: British mining equipment at an international exhibition in Silesia.
NCB Commentary - At Warsaw, Polish Prime Minister Cyrankiewicz welcomes delegates to the International Conference on Mine Reconstruction.
At the same time an international exhibition of mining machinery was opened at Gliwice, Silesia. On show were machines from all over Europe.
The Germans presented the Westfalia rake, a potent new loading device. Delegates from the National Coal Board saw British machines on show; among them, this Mono-rail conveyor. The Cactus Grab, for shaft sinking, is already well known in this country.
The British Delegation saw too, Polish equipment for opencast mining, full size and in model form. British drilling equipment attracted international interest.
Show piece of the exhibition was the Czechoslovak exhibit of a remote television installation which will allow a colliery’s working to be in the hands of two men.
The Polish exhibition reinforces the international outlook of mining today. - Researcher Comments
