Summary
BFI synopsis: Old Sherman tanks converted for opencast mining. Tanks seen in action; Sherman tanks (eighty of them) in a Staffordshire field. One is driven to factory where they are converted into machines for opencast mining. All the stages of the conversion are shown from use of oxy-acetylene cutters, overhauling of engine and installation of driver’s cab.

According to bfi sources, this story was filmed in February 1948. It was advertised by DATA with the title ‘Tanks into Tractors’.
