Summary
NoS Summary - Stunt riding on horseback by the 17-21st Lancers.
British Pathe synopsis: "Meet some of the 17-21st Lancers." Panning shot of group of men on horseback. A policeman stands beside them. Some wear Arabic style costumes, others are dressed in sportswear. They seem to be in a sports stadium. Camera pans across them. A man in the foreground seems to be sitting on a pony which is lying on the ground. M/S of the men riding at speed towards the camera. The men do some trick riding. "It’s difficult for most of us to just "stay put" on a horse without taking these liberties - " Various shots of stunts including standing up in the saddle, swinging body from one side of the horse to the other while it is running at speed, facing backwards in the saddle, doing a headstand on the side of the horse, etc. "The "slow" camera shows what you missed - (In case you’d like to try the tricks yourself.)" Slow motion footage of trick riding. Men swings their legs over the backs of the horses so that one minute they are facing forwards, the next minute facing backwards. More fancy riding is demonstrated. "Pegging away" Man wearing traditional Eastern dress uses a pole to bang in a peg as he rides at high speed. "And a real "level pegging" stunt at top speed." Two riders use their poles to pick up a rope with flags attached as they ride at high speed. This stunt is seen from another angle.
