Summary
NoS Summary - A bevy of bathing beauties model some sensational swimsuits.
British Pathe synopsis: "filmed at Southend". "The Guards aren’t the only folk who go on Parade - Eve, for instance - " High angle shot of bevy of bathing beauties parading in front of a large audience. Various shots of the girls posing. Probably a fashion show although could be a beauty contest. C/U of man in naval uniform admiring the swimwear. Woman models a large cape which is worn over a swimsuit. Girls walk through the crowd who watch from their deck chairs. C/U of three spectators, man in flat cap and two women. High angle showing large crowd who are watching. "In a bathing Parade a miss is as good as a male - (or better)." Line of girls model different swimsuits - this time with geometric patterns and capes. C/U of man with medal around his neck - a mayor or some other official? M/S of a young girl doing a high kick routine on a small outdoor stage in front of a small uniformed band. She does some one hand acrobatic handstands. M/S of group of girls modelling beach wear - big baggy trousers, dungarees, waistcoats, ties, jackets etc. Camera pans across then we see closer shot of some of the girls. M/S of girls in striped swimsuits standing on the pier. A man walks along the row of girls and shakes their hands. He kisses the last in the line. "All looking forward to a month of Sun-days - " M/S of girls standing on the end of the pier pulling on a rope - possibly to raise a flag. M/S of six of the girls eating ice cream from small paper plates. C/U of one of the girls as she eats the ice cream. M/S of the girls on a boat. One of the girls wears a sailors hat and operates the wheel. Another looks through some binoculars. M/S of girl sitting on the back of a boat sitting inside a life saving rubber ring which has the words "Southend Pier" printed on it. C/Us of some of the girls. They wave smile and laugh.
