Summary
NoS Summary - girls pose in swimsuits on a mountainside and on oil derricks.
British Pathe synopsis: "There’s more than gold in the Sierras - " reads the introductory intertitle. Group of chorus girls holding hands climb a mountainside. They wear bathing suits and high heels. They gingerly walk along a rocky ledge then stop and do some high kicks! "You never can tell how altitude will affect amphibians - " The girls stick their legs out whilst holding on to the mountainside then wave them up and down. High angle shot of two girls dancing on the mountainside. Closer view of the girls. Girls climb up to a high spot holding hands: "Ain’t nature grand!" They stand on a high spot waving their arms in the air. "The rising tide of bathing beauties has even engulfed the oil fields." C/U of group of girls, two with their heads turned away from the camera, two standing close to the camera - just their legs in shot. Oil derricks seen in the background. Top shot of the girls posing at the foot of the oil derricks. Arty shot of the girls’ reflections in a puddle, they stand motionless, as if in a tableau vivant. Camera tilts up and they run off through the mud towards the oil derricks. "Giving the drills a thrill!" reads an intertitle before a shot of two of the girls standing on a revolving drum (just their legs seen) Other girls spin them around. High angle shot showing the girls at the bottom of the construction. Various shots showing the girls climbing an oil derrick. The girls are silhouetted amongst the ironwork. Low angle shot of the girls climbing up - worms eye view of the girls’ bottoms! High angle shot of one of the girls smiling broadly as they climb up towards the camera.
