Summary
NoS Summary - Chorus girls limbering up then a high kick routine.
British Pathe synopsis: High angle shot of a group of chorus girls limbering up in a dance studio or rehearsal room. They help each other to bend their legs back to touch their heads! C/U of one of the girls who holds onto a bar whilst her friend pushes her leg backwards repeatedly so that it touches her head - they both look like they are enjoying this activity! They then swap places. The girls all wear gingham outfits and have short slick black bob hairdos. "Fast footwork demands india-rubber muscles, not the village blacksmith kind - and these methods are employed." Girls line up with their backs against the bar and their friends push their legs up as far as they will go! They then swap over and do the other legs. "If Eve wants to add a further subject to her home-study course, here is a good one - " The girls stand with one leg up on the bar then lean over and touch their toes, then down to the ground and touch the floor. Closer shot of the girls as they practice this stretching technique. "Front kicks, side ones - they’re all practised continually." We see the girls kicking away. The girls then do cartwheels and a high kick routine ending in the splits. "And almost any lady could do these steps - (after a few years’ practising)." Camera pans across the line of girls as they go through their routine.
