Summary
NoS synopsis: "The automatic help-yourself restaurant has arrived in London. Just put your money in the slot and Presto! You’re off!" M/S of a woman walking towards a machine. C/U of her picking up a glass and placing it onto a pad which rinses it. She then places it under a nozzle. M/S of her getting some money out of her handbag. She places money in a slot and liquid is poured into the glass which she then drinks. C/U of another machine. She feeds money into a slot to obtain some "Herrings in Aspic". The contraption turns and the woman takes out her plate of food. Another machine is shown, choices are "Anchovy" or "Pressed Beef" - she chooses the latter. We then see the woman sitting at a counter eating her sandwich. She smiles at the camera. "Pay your money and take your choice! (What a blessing this would be at home!)" C/U of machine dispensing "Cods Roe" sandwiches for 6d. C/U of a "Fruit Salad & Cream" machine, an "Hors d’oeuvres" machine, anchovy, smoked salmon and caviare machines. C/U of a hand taking an open caviare sandwich out of a machine. C/U of "Potato Salad" machine rotating and plate being taken out. C/U of woman putting money into the slot of the "Fruit Salad & Cream" machine and the desert being dispensed.
