Summary
NoS synopsis: ""St. Bernards", explained Mrs. Staines, the famous Dog Breeder, "are the gentlest dogs imaginable - notwithstanding their great size -"". C/U of the top of a stable door being opened. Two big St Bernard dogs appear peeking over the top of the door. They put their heads on their paws. Shot of another stable with another large dog standing on his hind legs looking out. L/S of a man leading a dog out of what looks like a house / stable. The dog is followed by a small Shetland pony. M/S of the dog. Various shots of these large dogs. M/S of the side door of a lorry being lowered. Doors are opened and and 9 St Bernard’s come running out. L/S of a gate, gate is opened and the dogs run into the field towards the camera. "Teeth toilet -" C/U of dog having his teeth brushed. "Eats - each dog consumes about 3 lbs of meat per day!" Interior of the kennel kitchens where food is being prepared. One of the women throws titbits at one of the dogs who stands in the doorway. "For exercise, a good old game -" The dogs are exercised in a field - a ball is thrown around for them. Two men in overalls kick the ball round and the dogs run about. "Pups -" Then we see some puppies. Kennel maids and male workers hold bowls of food and the puppies jump around. "Emulating old Dobbin - " M/S of a large St Bernard which has a saddle on its back. A little girl is lifted onto its back and given a ride. Shots of the girl hanging on as she passes the camera. L/S of a glamorous kennel maid walking two dogs - a St Bernard and a much smaller dog beside it, a Pekingese (Pekinese) possibly. M/S of the little dog sitting on the larger dog’s back. C/U of the two dogs. "A real study - Peter, Ben and the baby!" A baby sits on the ground between two of the dogs. One of the dogs sniffs the baby - the child looks bemused. Various shots of the baby and dogs.
