Summary
NoS synopsis: "Meet the lad - debonair and intelligent (even though he has four legs) making a formal call." M/S of a dog running up the front steps of a house then standing on the porch with his feet on the door. C/U of dog barking. C/U of dog’s paw as it rings the doorbell. Dog sits on the porch barking. The door opens and a smaller dog comes out and they embrace. "Between ourselves, we were intruding, for Lad and Lassie were doing a spot of work for the camera." M/S of the door of the house, in the foreground we see a cameraman and director. The director holds on to the dog then lets him go as the camera turns. The director gives the dog directions. We see the other dog emerge from the house. "Lassie has a way of her own of keeping cool and getting a drink simultaneously." A small child holds a garden hose and the little dog runs in the stream of water, trying to drink it. "An incident in the day’s work - the youngster wanted to turn the camera handle and wouldn’t take "No" for an answer." C/U of the kid crying. M/S of cameraman turning the camera whilst the child bawls. The dog gets up on the seat with the child and puts its head on the child’s shoulder. "Cheer up, kiddie! It’s all in a lifetime!" The child puts its arm around the dog and looks a bit happier. He cuddles the dog. "And when Lad is asked whether he’d like to make another picture, he answers by the wig-wag system." C/U of the the dogs back legs with its tail wagging. M/S of man sitting on a bench talking to the dog telling it to wag its tail.
