Summary
NoS Summary - Women in traditional dress in the Tyrol contrasted with modern German girls.
NoS synopsis: Introductory intertitle reads: "Of all the Western States of Europe, probably the greatest change in woman’s outlook has occurred in Germany. Certainly, in various parts they cling to the old styles" High angle shot of a parade of German women wearing old fashioned white dresses and ornate hats. They are followed by men in Tyrollean style hats with large feathers and old fashioned suits. M/S of the backs of four women wearing traditional costume - white shawls and aprons, black hats and striped skirts. Another shot of the parade. "Meanwhile, round the corner, modern Miss Germany is discarding much superfluous flesh and clothing in her efforts to keep fit - and slim." Various shots of a large number of German women at a sports stadium. They march along around the stadium watched by large crowds in the stands. "Rhythm in everything - relaxing every muscle possible." High angle panning shot of hundreds of women performing keep fit exercises in unison. C/U of woman beating out a rhythm on a small drum or tambourine. C/U of some of the women bending and stretching. "A decided change from this -" This sequence is contrasted with another shot of the parade and various shots of the women in traditional dress. C/U of some of the giggling women - they wear unusual black boater hats and hold flowers. "But, a change for the better." M/S of large number of women performing fencing exercises on the stadium field. High angle shot of formation dancing taking place on the stadium field.
