NoS Summary - Mr. W. Somerset Maugham is seen at his home on the Riviera, he plays with his dogs and walks in his garden.
British Pathe synopsis: W. Somerset Maugham "the author and playwriter" is featured. Introductory intertitle reads: "Probably sixty per cent of Mr. Maugham’s play and book "fans" are of the gentler sex, and here is Mr. Maugham himself for Eve to see... (in his lovely Riviera home)." L/S of Maugham on a terrace with the sea visible below. He holds out his hand towards a dove who is sitting on a low wall. The dove flies off. M/S of Maugham as he shields his eyes from the sun and looks out to sea. He turns to face the camera. C/U of the side of Maugham’s face. "The author of "Caesar’s Wife", "East of Suez", "Our betters", etc., has a large family. Here it is - " Maugham emerges from a large doorway with several small dogs and puppies running around his heels. C/U of Maugham sitting down with the dogs clambering all over him, licking him etc. He laughs. "Mr. Maugham likes to work here - and who wouldn’t?" High angle long shot of Maugham walking along a high ledge which seems to be surrounding a swimming pool or pond. The sea is visible below, he lives on a hillside in a grand house it seems. He stands and looks out to sea.
