- COI synopsis: Photographs of politicians and pop stars, poets and playwrights, can be seen in London’s National Portrait Gallery - part of its permanent record of people who have influenced their times. This report shows some of ‘The Great British’ portraits taken by the American photographer, Arnold Newman, for exhibition at the Gallery later this year: some 50 famous Britons, ranging from the Archbishop of Canterbury to comedians Morecambe and Wise.
