- Summary
- COI synopsis: A shortage of underwater engineers, and the dangers to those who are working at great depths under the North Sea oil rigs, led the British government to set up one of the biggest commercial diving training centres in the world. Maggie Palmer visits the centre in the Scottish Highlands and watches novice and advanced divers as they master first the basic principles and then the techniques of advanced work under formidable pressure, for prolonged periods of great depth.
