Summary
COI synopsis: Britain is experiencing a theatre boom - eight new theatres have been built this year. Leading Shakespearean actor Ian McKellen interviewed by Michele Brown find the new Sheffield Theatre with its open stage ‘the best in the world’. Others may disagree, but there is no doubt that theatre in Britain is more lively and experimental than ever before.
