Summary
COI synopsis: Market Day at the small country town of Buckingham, in the English midlands, seen through the eyes of a local farmer, Tom Lines and his wife, as they pay their weekly visit. While the general stalls are being erected, the first loads of animals arrive for auction, to be examined and graded later by a government inspector. Mr Lines spends the day watching the auction, where some of his cattle are up for sale, and meeting other farmers. His wife makes her tour of the shops and stalls an exchanges gossip with other farmers’ wives. Finally the cattle are sold for a good price and market day ends for the Lines’ with a visit to the local farm equipment store.
