- Summary
- COI synopsis: Coping with a physical handicap, whether congenital, or as the result of illness or accident, can be a daunting task. Today’s programme features three people with differing physical problems. With the help of modern technology, they have achieved a new independence and freedom. Peggy Miles suffers from painful swelling and inflammation of the joints - arthritis. Simply getting on a bus or reaching up to a shelf was agonising for her - but not any more. A simple device - a walking stick with a flick-down step, has given Peggy a new independence. She no longer has to rely on help from a stranger.
