Summary
COI synopsis: Coping with a physical handicap, whether congenital, or as the result of illness or accident, can be a daunting task. Today’s programme features three people with differing physical problems. With the help of modern technology, they have achieved a new independence and freedom. Terry Scott severed part of his right leg in a motorcycle accident. Undeterred, he enjoys a full, active life, which includes a lorry driving job. Thanks to a British medical research team, who have developed a new type of artificial limb socket made from thermoplastic cones, he can even play football with his children.
