- Summary
- COI synopsis: Even in the desert, ice can now be made, ice to keep vaccines alive and help in the battle to stamp out the world’s killer diseases. The new ice maker grew out of an experiment by Faraday. He heated a container so that a liquid inside evaporated. But when he cooled the container, the gas condensed and - here’s the surprise - ice formed on the outside. That experiment has led to a new icemaking machine. It’s light and portable, heating is supplied by the smallest of fires and within two hours, a bucket of ice is ready for use.
