Summary
COI synopsis: Mrs Mullen suffers from a stomach disorder. Blood vessels on the wall of her stomach periodically burst, causing massive haemorrhages. Her case was once considered hopeless, but doctors at a London hospital have now given her a future. Using an endoscope - a NoSle of fibre optics, used for visual examination of a patient’s stomach, to which they’ve added a fibre to carry laser light - they reach the very source of the trouble. Blasts of laser light then cauterise the faulty blood vessels.
