- Summary
- COI synopsis: Inflatable tents, miniaturised microwave ovens, tiny television sets: it’s possible to pack into a car everything the bon viveur could possibly need for a weekend. But portability not only has far reaching effects on our everyday lives - it’s also bringing about major changes in commerce, industry and medicine... The massive rollers used in paper mills inevitably wear at the ends where metal bearings can score the shaft. They must be re-ground, but that’s a major task: the whole roller must be transported to a stationary lathe. Now, you can move the lathe instead of the roller. A new portable lathe fits over the shaft and does the grinding there and then.
