Summary

COI synopsis: The soil beneath our feet; dirt; earth it’s commonly called. In actual fact it’s a complex microbiological structure that man must nurture and maintain to achieve the food and beauty that can be harvested there. Potato farming is big business. Yet the presence of one aphid - no bigger than a pinhead - could, within days, destroy a whole potato field. And insecticides cannot reach them in their covered home beneath the leaves. But researchers have isolated a scent - spelling danger for the aphid - that will force them out into the open: and make them vulnerable.
