Summary
COI synopsis: There’s something captivating about getting two things for the price of one. It appeals to all of us. In science and technology too, minds are constantly stretched in the search for devices with more than one purpose. That flexible working joint the knee withstands enormous strains, yet it’s held together by a few thin strands called ligaments. Now, that immensely strong, flexibe man-made carbon fibre is being used to replace torn ligments. Not only does it stand the normal strains, but it also acts as a scaffold for new ligments to form in their correct alignment.
