- COI synopsis: The coal and oil we rely on for fuel will one day run out; even the fuel for conventional nuclear reactors is in short supply. Yet every day the sun pumps a massive amount of energy into the earth and its atmosphere - our only unlimited source until a fusion reactor, a man-made sun on earth, is made to work. This issue takes a quick look round at some of the proposed new methods for harnessing the enormous natural flow of renewable energy. Waves at sea are an enormous store of concentrated wind energy; a new system will extract up to 80% as useful power.
