Summary
COI synopsis: Peter May is an insurance broker, unexceptional amongst thousands of men and women in the City of London during the week. On the cricket field, however, he is incomparable. Still in his early thirties he was a brilliant captain of Surrey and England, and a gifted batsmen. In 1953 he confirmed his promise by a superb innings against the Australian tourists, and then went to Australia as vice-captain under Len Hutton. When Australia’s team revisited England in 1956 May played a captain’s innings and took a place of honour amongst the greatest names in the game.
