- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: The Fenny Poppers. DESCRIPTION: In the Buckinghamshire town of Fenny Stratford on St. Martin’s Day, they fire the ‘Fenny Poppers’. The Poppers are small pots made of gunmetal, filled with gunpowder and fired by using a long hot rod. The custom dates back to 1760 and commemorates their beloved townsman, Dr Browne Willis.
