MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: International Athletics. DESCRIPTION: Many Olympic stars came to Crystal Palace for the International Athletics Meeting. John Walker of New Zealand was out to break the UK Mile Record, but his time of 3 minutes 55.1 seconds was not quite good enough. Runners from five countries lined up for the Two Mile Race, first past the post was another ‘Kiwi’, Rod Dixon. SHOTLIST: MS start of mens 400 metre hurdles. Pan with them as they go round corner. MLS as they come into final straight at 51’ No 1 Alan Pascoe crosses the line first. MCU Alan Pascoe. MS Jacek Wazola on high jump, which he clears. MS Dwight Stones on run up for high jump. MCU Dwight Stones as he jumps and clears, giving him 1st prize in high jump. MS Jacek Wazola running up and jumping but failing to clear bar. MCU Dwight Stones posing for photographers. MS line up for start of two mile race, pan along. MLS start of two mile race. MS runners going round, pan with them. CU timing machine. MCU runners legs going past camera. MS final straight with No 2 Rod Dixon crossing the line at 272’. MS crowd clapping. MS No 2 Rod Dixon running off waving to crowd. MS No 1 Brendan Foster walking off. MCU ditto.
