- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: England V Portugal. DESCRIPTION: Group 1 of the European Football Championship, and England take on Portugal. The result a goal-less draw and it looks like a hard season ahead for English soccer. SHOTLIST: SV teams walk out past camera. SV England supporters. SV Portugal kick off zoom out as the ball is passed backfield. SV Damas (goalie). LV in Portugal half No 11 (for England) Thomas passes to No 4 Brooking who immediately passes to another player who is tackled & falls to ground, Portugal gains possession. SV ball is passed back to Portugal goalie who throws ball out. SV pan England in possession ball is passed but is intercepted. LV ball in air ground Portugal goal ball is headed by Portugal player towards another player No 9 Nene. BV No 9 Nene heads ball away from goal but an England players intercepts & shoots ball at goal but Goalie Damas saves. SV cheering England supporters. SV pan England in possession, ball is passed across Portugal goal & at 61’ Thomas (No 11) shoots but Damas makes a great save. GV England in possession No 11 passes to No 2 (Madeley) passes toward Portugal goal, No 4 Alhinho tries to intercept but England gets possession. SV a shot is taken but Damas saves, fails to catch ball so it is still in play. SV No 8 Vitor Martins gains ball & kicks it away from goal. SV England in possession but player is brought down, another England player kicks toward goal No 2 Artur kicks ball out of play. SV referee talking to player as he has given free kick for foot tackle (in last shot). LV free kick taken by No 8 Channon. SV Channon kicks ball but Damas makes another good save, England gain ball. LV ball is passed to No 8 Channon. SV Channon shoots, ball goes past post. GV crowd. GV Portugal in possession, shot is taken but ball goes over goal. SV cheering supporters. GV England takes a corner, ball is headed away from goal. SV ball being pushed & shoved around Portugal goalmouth. GV Portugal player kicks ball away from his goal. GV scoreboard nil-nil. LV No 5 Cavaldinho crosses ball across England goalmouth, Watson No 5 clears ball with header. LV Clarke No 10 moves up field toward goal with 2 men to beat but No 2 Artur cuts him down (foul). Referee shows Artur yellow card. GV England supporters. GV Channon takes free kick but ball is saved by Damas, ball is kicked off field (corner). LV England takes corner, ball goes across goalmouth, England player heads ball towards goal but Portugal player heads ball away from goal. No 9 Francis (England) passes ball back toward goal but ball is headed away again. SV crowd. CU ball is passed by England across Portugal goalmouth, No 7 Bell shoots ball over bar. LV No 4 Brooking gains ball & crosses past goalmouth of Portugal, No 10 Clarke shoots but again Damas saves. GV scoreboard final score England 0 Portugal 0. GV both teams lined up at end of match. Group 1 European Football Championships.
