- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: World Speedway Championship. DESCRIPTION: The World Speedway Championship held at Wembley. Great Britain’s Peter Collins runs away with the Championship for the third time, and breaks the lap record. SHOTLIST: LV motor bikes lined up. LV massed crowds. SV pan British team sitting on bikes. SV pan Russian team sitting on bikes. CU World Champion Jerzy Szczakiel (Poland). SV towards and pan start of heat 1 with Nos 14, 12, 5 & 4. GV pan as they race round bend - No 5 Pawel Waloszek (Poland) falls & skids to edge of track. SV pan as Terry Betts (GB) No 12 goes into lead. LV pan as Betts races round in lead to win heat. GV pan heat No 2 in progress, Peter Collins (GB) No 11 well in lead, in this heat he breaks the track record. SV pan as Collins flashes past, GV pan Collins racing towards bend & round. SV Collins flashes past. GV pan Collins racing towards bend & round, SV Collins flashes past. GV pan as he rounds bend & breaks the tape to win. CU bikes lined up for heat 4. SV pan tapes up & start of heat 4 with Nos 16, 10, 7 & 1. SV pan as 4 bikes race round bend with No 16 Viktor Trofimov (or Valeri Gordeev) (Russia) in lead. GV pan Tromifov rounding bend, flashes past chequered flag to win. SV bikes lined up for start of heat 9. CU tapes up and bikes away. GV pan as they race round track with No 10 Malcolm Simmons in lead. SV pan as he passes flag to win. LV second and third bikes flash past zoom back to GV. LV tapes up and start of heat 14. SV pan as they race round track with Peter Collins No 11 (GB) in lead. CU pan bikes flash past, SV bikes round bend with Collins in lead. BV Collins in lead round bend. LV pan Collins flashes home to win. result of heat No 14 & showing GB in lead with 34 points. SV British team walking towards winning rostrum. GB win with 37 points. SV congratulations to GB winners of World Speedway Team Cup. CU they hold cup aloft zoom into cup pan down to complete GB team holding cups.
