Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: 8000 in Ski Race. DESCRIPTION: In Sweden - 8000 skiers from Europe take part in this 40 mile, five hour, very tiring athletic event. The race commemorates the overthrow of the Danes by the Swedes in 1500. SHOTLIST: LS towards and past mass of skiers start off. MS pan skiers going past. GV ditto. GV skiers up hill. MS 3 skiers ski under banner, pan as No 7 followed by No 76 go past. BV skiers past camera, Nos 39, 4533 then 4 others. MS No 6837 followed by 6462 takes drinks at control point as they go past. MS skiers past control point. BV line of skiers. MS crowd watching. MLS pan winner (Lars Arne Bolling) skis up to finish between two rows of spectators, girl holds out laurel wreath as he skis up and puts his head through it as he goes past. LS towards, winner skiing through crowd with laurel wreath round neck. MS winner with girl, being congratulated.
