MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Period Cricket. DESCRIPTION: Lord’s Cricket Ground turned over for a special charity match between Old England and the Lord’s Taverners. The Taverners is made up of eleven stars, including David Frost and Harry Secombe. SHOTLIST: LV main gates at Lord’s. CU pan poster with names of participants etc. pan to cricket in 1884 period costume. SV Ivor Salter (Comedian) selling programmes. SV other stars sell programmes. SV Lord’s pavilion and band playing. SV Lord Taverner’s team coming out to field. SV pan ditto with Harry Secombe. SV pan to opening batsmen Reg Simpson & Jack Ikin for England. GV play in progress. SV ditto batsman hits one for four (not 6 but 4 balls an over) 6 has to be out of the ground. Bernard Cribbins & John Slater having photographs taken with public. SV photographer. SV Cribbins & Slater with women on knees. GV game in progress with band playing. SV scoreboard Old England 1st innings 249 for 8. SV Lord Taverners walking back, f/g John Alderton of Please Sir. GV Secombe batting & scores a 4. SV crowd. GV Secombe hits, starts to run, returns to wicket and he hits again, hard. SV 2 captains receiving cheque for £500.00 from Lord Mayor of London. (Ian Carmichael and David Frost can be seen) - pan as the 2 captains return to team mates.
