MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: AAA Championships. DESCRIPTION: Held at Crystal Palace this year, and as exciting as ever. In the 5,000 metres final, it was a shock for the capacity crowd to see 20 year old champion David Bedford leave the field in tears after pulling a hamstring muscle. SHOTLIST: GV Crystal Palace ground. SV crowd. GV start of 110 metres hurdles final follow with race - Alan Pascoe breaks tape, Berwyn Price 2nd. CU Pascoe. BV No 11 Ed Johnson running with pole. SV Johnson jumps and clears (3rd). No 10 Brian Hooper 2nd. SV No 10 Hooper jumps and clears. SV crowd. SV No 2 Michael Bull clear to win. Finish of 400 metres final - No 15 David Jenkins in four lane breaks at 84’ with No 27 Len Walters 2nd. SV winner Jenkins. SV Lynn Davis No 8 long jump. SV No 1 Alan Lerwill he jumps pan to crowd (2nd). SV BV No 15 Henry Hines (USA). SV he jumps (wins). TV Hines walks over. SV crowd. David Bedford in hat etc. (5,000 metres). SV crowd. SV starter fires gun. LV pan start Bedford goes straight into lead. SV pan Bedford No 31 followed closely by No 6 Maurice Benn, pan with Bedford at 173’. CU 3 judges. SV pan Bedford in lead followed by No 21 Alan Rushmer. SV pan Bedford by 21. SV rest of field. SV crowd. LV pan Bedford well in lead with No 21 now lagging and rest. SV pan Bedford well in lead. GV zoom back Bedford round track in lead starts to slow down. LV Bedford on edge of track. SV pan Nos 3, 27 & 8 continue the race. GV officials help Bedford. SV Bedford walking away. SV BV pan up from legs. CU pan crying as he is led off. SV pan No 3 Michael Baxter. SV Baxter breaks at 285’ to win. SV crowd. SV winner Baxter.
