- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Shrovetide Football. DESCRIPTION: A bewildering football match in which the four-foot cork ball is seldom seen. It’s the annual Shrovetide scrum between the two halves of the town - played over a two-mile pitch which includes the main street and the brook. SHOTLIST: SV shop windows boarded up pan to GV street (2 shots). GV ditto. SV ball presented to Mr Firth. CU ball. GV pan mass crowd through streets. LV Mr Firth amid crowd throws ball into air. CU people mill about. GV crowd start to run across field. GV 2 shots ditto. LV pan men running in crowd. SV ball tossed over fence people scramble over. LV scrummage in stream. CU ditto zoom out to SV spectators. SV scrummage in water. CU legs of man in water pan up ball flies into air and back into scrum. LV scrummage in water, ball up again.
