Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Slippery Pole Contest. DESCRIPTION: Maybe some Parisians are on holiday here to compete in the slippery pole contest. You can’t afford to slip up in this sport, or you take a header into the steam. SHOTLIST: GV crowd watching the greasy pole being prepared. SV contestant picks up sand and puts in on beginning of pole. LV contestant runs up pole slips off at 23’ & into water. CU another man runs up - falls in water. BV ditto. CU man in water. GV pan man runs up pole and nearly grabs first top hat on pole, he falls. CU pan man runs up pole almost reaches top hat - falls. SV men watching. SV man runs up pole, grabs top hat but fails to take it in the water. GV man up pole to top hat. SV grabs stick & top hat falls in water. SV men in water. LV man up pole to try & reach second hat but falls. CU hat on stick. GV pan man runs all way up pole, grabs stick & hat and falls. SV men in water with hat & stick.
