Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: In Spite of the Strike. DESCRIPTION: The only ship being worked on Merseyside during the May Day Strike was a German cargo vessel being loaded with supplies for Biafra. A Liverpool arrival was the tanker Hamilton Trader, damaged after a collision with a German freighter. Hundreds of tons of oil threatened holiday beaches in North Wales, Cheshire and Lancashire. SHOTLIST: MS docker guides load as it lifts from quayside. LAS good for Biafra loaded on ship. CU crate. MCU man loading carton on ship. GV pan Eduard Schupp German cargo ship at quayside. 2 shots forklift loads goods onto platform. MS platform lifted by crane. TS platform moves to hold of ship.
