Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Race to the Moon. DESCRIPTION: A record of 25 successful Thor-Delta launches is ended when the rocket carrying the latest communications satellite blows up at Cape Kennedy. But the Moon race - using the giant Saturn rocket - is well underway, with the Russians jostling the Americans for the lead. The loop around the moon by Zond Five - the first lunar visitor to be recovered - marks an important advance in the Russian programme.
